Indonesian Environmental Week (Pekan Lingkungan Indonesia) again is held to commemorate the World Environment Day on June 5, 2013. The event itself takes place from May 30 to June 2, 2013 at the Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta.

The main theme of this event is ‘Change Our Behavior and Way of Consumption to Save the Environment’ which in line with the World Environment Day’s theme issued by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) which is Think.Eat.Save.

Minister of Environment Prof Balthasar Kambuaya  in his remark to officially open the event, emphasized on the importance of the environmental friendly behavior.

“Environmental issues can not be assumed as a stand-alone thing, yet very related to human behavior, especially in meeting their needs,” said the Professor .

He also said that the quality of environment greatly determine the welfare of our society.

Indonesian Agency for Agriculture Research and Development (IAARD) participated by collaborating in the Ministry of Agriculture’s stand, displaying several IAARD’s innovation technologies related to environment i.e. indigenous vegetables, shallot varieties that is adaptive to climate change such as Trisula and Sembrani, greenhouse gauge, and publications on environment, land resources, and climate change.
