SUBANG, WEST JAVA – Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) visited the Indonesian Center for Rice Research (ICRR, one of the working unit of the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD), on Thursday (4/12/2014).

During the visit, JK and the visiting party was explained about several innovation technologies related with paddy/rice. Among others are New Improved Varieties, cultivation technology, harvest and post-harvest technologies. Other than that, the Director of ICRR also explained about the innovation and technology that has been widely disseminated to the users through the Spectrum Dissemination Multi Channel.

JK appreciated the technology innovations resulted, and hoped that ICRR could synergize with PT Sang Hyang Seri to increase the production of seed therefore procurement of rice seeds in Indonesia can always be fulfilled.

“This is a remarkable potency. It is a remarkable that we have seeds and the remarkable abilities of our professionals,” said JK.

During the visit, JK also observed the seed source management unit (UPBS) of ICRR and he also saw directly the UPBS storage that keeps various new improved paddy seeds (seed source and base seed).
