BOGOR – Indonesia through the Ministry of Agriculture hosts the 11th Governing Council of the United Nation Centre for the Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture (CAPSA), Thursday (12/2/2015).

The meeting discussed CAPSA’s working program of 2014 and the work plan for 2015. It also presented the progress of the Network for Knowledge Transfer on Sustainable Agricultural Technologies and Improved Market Linkages in South and South-East Asia (SATNET Asia) program.

In his remark, which was read by the Director of Indonesian Center for Agriculture Socio Economic and Policy Studies (ICASEP) Dr Handewi P Saliem, the Minister for Agriculture said that the future of agriculture does not only runs for food and energy production but also is the key in environment conservation for producing sustainable food. He also wished the meeting could end in creating strategic relationships between the global trend and the country member in facing the social-economic challenge of the region.

By the mandate of CAPSA which one of them is promoting the agricultural research and development to reduce poverty in the Asia and Pacific Region, Indonesia will fully support the goal.

“We will collaborate to support CAPSA in executing the mandate,” said the Minister.

Participants of this meeting were the State Representative’s from Afghanistan, Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Filipina, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea and Thailand.
