Research Collaboration

To enhance the R&D quality and speed technology development and implementation, IAARD has developed research collaboration program through partnership and joint research. Research collaborations have been conducted in the form of  national and international collaborations. These activities are complementary to the existing research programs. IAARD as a research institution in the Ministry of Agriculture actively explores and develops research collaboration and cooperative agreements with numerous national, regional, and international agricultural institutions. These cooperative efforts have a number of scientific benefit such as :

In country research collaboration is done mainly with national and regional government agencies, universities and private sector.  IAARD works together with these institutions for the development of science and targeted technologies. Particularly attention is given to accelerate the transfer and location-specific technology to end users.

International Cooperation takes the forms of bilateral, multilateral and regional relationships. IAARD has a long history of collaboration with various members of Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) such as IRRI, CIMMYT, CIP, IPGRI etc.  IRRI, the International Rice Research Institute, was the first CGIAR member to engage in collaborative research with IAARD. This cooperation was productive, generating rice varieties and lines adopted by farmers throughout Indonesia.

Extensive bilateral agreements have led to cooperation on a number of research fronts. Japan International Research Centre for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS), Centre de cooperation Internationale en Recherché Agronomique pour le Deveoppement (CIRAD), Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) are some of international institutions who have also long history of collaboration with IAARD through bilateral agreement.

IAARD also develops collaboration with regional organizations such as APEC and ASEAN. Some projects have been done by the support of these organizations.
