Cursina 3 Curcuma Variety

Cursina 3 Curcuma (Curcuma xanthorriza roxburghii) resulted from the individual selection from Majalengka. This variety has oblong elliptic shaped leaf, 3 – 6 tillers, 56 – 95 cm leaf length, 17 – 24 cm width leaf, green and light green upper and lower leaf, 8 – 11 numbers of leaves/plant.

The rhizome shaped slightly conical, has light brown skin color, dark orange colored flesh with 600 – 1200 g weight/clump. Numbers of rhizome production is 21 – 31 t/ha.

Its contents make this variety superior. Having 5.22% curcuminiod, 6.4% volatile oil, 0.97% xanthorizol, 48.9% starch, 5.74% ash, and 2.51% fiber. This variety is suitable to be used commercially and be developed as raw material for traditional drink industry.
